Job summary

State of Washington’s Labor & Industries division seeks a Program Support Supervisor 2 for Mail Services in Tumwater. You will supervise staff, ensure timely, accurate mail handling, and act as the agency’s expert on Mail Services.

Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Three years’ experience in the program specialty or equivalent education/experience.
  • Ability to frequently move and lift up to 60 pounds; up to 150 pounds with aid.
  • Experience coaching, motivating, teaching and leading coworkers.
  • Excellent customer service skills; flexible with work assignments.
  • Ability to take action to learn and grow; meet others' needs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (SharePoint, Excel, Word, Outlook); Lean/Six Sigma experience is a plus.

Ready for the next step in your career? Our Program Support Specialist 2 supervises Mail Services staff and keeps L&I’s mail room running smoothly. In this role you’ll be the agency’s subject matter expert related to Mail Services, provides information and direct coordination with internal and external stakeholders, customers and service providers.

As the Program Support Supervisor 2 for the Mail Services Program of Administrative Services, you’ll contribute towards L&I’s mission to "Keep Washington safe and Working".

Some of what you’ll do:
  • Supervise support staff, coordinate and assist with day to day unit operations.
  • Place top priority toward quality, accuracy, and customer service timelines.
  • Use independent judgement to accomplish assignments and resolve issues.
  • Responsible for performance evaluations, corrective action, hiring and training of staff.
  • Plan and prioritize work to meet both internal and external customer expectations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert within the agency regarding Mail Services questions, informational requests, or service inquiries.
  • Set/measure performance standards and assigns work. Assist in the development, implementation, and compliance of agency mail management policies and procedures.
  • Active supervision of all aspects of the L&I mailroom to include staff performance, customer commitments, organization of the work flore, and more.
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and quality control measures are in place and being met.
  • Act as a liaison between the agency and Consolidated Mail Services.
  • Development and modification (update) of existing work methods, procedures, and/or strategies to resolve issues and streamline processes.
Required:
  • High school graduation or equivalent

AND

  • Three years’ experience in the program specialty. This could include working in a mailroom or another type of logistics and/or production atmosphere.

OR

  • Equivalent education/experience.
  • Must be able to frequently move and lift up to 60 pounds and occasionally move and or lift up to 150 pounds using a hand cart and /or other authorized equipment.
  • Experience in coaching, motivating, teaching and leading co-workers.
  • Excellent customer service skills; flexibility regarding work assignments; ability to communicate with and assist a wide variety of individuals (internal staff, general public, business professionals).

AND

  • The ability to take action to learn and grow.
  • The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.
Desired:
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite to include, SharePoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma.

For this position, telework is not permitted during training and is permitted on occasion after training has been completed. The assigned duty station for this position is Tumwater, Washington.
