University of Utah seeks a Knowledge Commons Coordinator to oversee public service operations at the Knowledge Commons and supervise part-time staff. You will assist with training, development, and referrals across service channels, including in-person, email, phone, and written communications.
The role involves guiding Answer U referrals, supporting on-campus technology lending, and maintaining a welcoming service environment.
Oversees public service operations at the Knowledge Commons,ensuring high-quality patron service and technology lendingsupport. Assists the Knowledge Commons manager on the training,development, and supervision of department employees to deliverconsistent, customer-focused support across all service channels,including in-person interactions, email, telephone, and writtencommunications.
Serves as the initial point of contact for Answer U, listening tostudent concerns, assessing needs, gathering essential intakeinformation, and providing warm referrals to Answer U Generalistswhen issues require more comprehensive support.
Provides guidance and support to part-time staff in information,reference, and referral services, while resolving complex patroninquiries and service issues. Promotes a welcoming and professionalservice environment, including the effective mediation of userconflicts and resolution or escalation of patron and facilityconcerns as appropriate.
This position may also support University students and employeeswith device and remote support.
This position is required to work on campus full-time.Telecommuting will only be authorized for occasional/exceptionalcircumstances.

Requires Bachelor's degree in related field and 3-5 years ofprogressively more responsible experience with coordinatingexperience in a library, cultural heritage institution, or similarsetting, or equivalency (one year of education can be substitutedfor two years of related work experience). Directly relatedexperience working with the types of technologies, collections, andresources used in the specified area of library servicepreferred.
Experience with customer service and working in a team environment,preferably in a technology and/or academic environment. Experiencewith Windows and Mac operating systems, basic hardware, varioussoftware applications, and troubleshooting technical issues.Approachable with excellent communication skills to workeffectively with students, staff, faculty, and other library users.Supervisory experience. Good organization skills and ability tolearn new systems.
This is a local recruitment. Out of area candidates will beresponsible for travel costs for final in-person interviews and formoving costs, if selected. The candidate will also need to beavailable to travel to Salt Lake City within 5-7 days of notice forfinal in-person interviews.
