Urth Caffé is seeking a versatile Kitchen Team Member for our Commissary in Southern California. You’ll support daily production across departments, prepping ingredients, assisting baking, and packaging finished products to ensure top-quality shipments to our cafés.

Qualifications

• Production experience: Previous experience in a high-volume commissary kitchen, food manufacturing facility, or fast-paced commercial restaurant preferred.
• Adaptability & attitude: A proactive, team-first mindset with the willingness to switch tasks quickly based on daily production priorities.
• Technical skills: Strong foundational knife skills and comfort working with food assembly or baking equipment.
• Safety first: Reliable knowledge of food safety and sanitation protocols (ServSafe Food Handler card required or obtained upon hire).

Responsibilities

• Cross-train and float across multiple production areas including raw ingredient preparation, batch cooking, baking, assembly, and packaging.
• Execute high-volume food prep such as washing, peeling, chopping, weighing, and measuring ingredients according to recipe specifications.
• Assist in culinary and baking production by mixing doughs, preparing fillings, scaling portions, and monitoring cooking or baking times and temperatures.
• Operate commercial production equipment safely including industrial mixers, ovens, food processors, slicers, and packaging machinery after proper training.
• Package, label, and organize finished products accurately to prepare them for safe transit and distribution to our retail cafés.
• Maintain a sanitary work environment by keeping your active work zones, equipment, tools, and utensils clean, sanitized, and organized throughout your shift.
• Perform other production duties as assigned by the kitchen management team to support the daily operational workflow.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Lifting power: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally (such as bulk flour or ingredient bags), without assistance.
• Repetitive movement: Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive manual tasks for extended periods.
• Environment adaptability: Ability to work comfortably in varying conditions, including warm oven areas, cold production rooms, and walk-in coolers/freezers.
