Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Tennessee is seeking a knowledgeable technician to inspect and maintain commercial kitchen suppression systems. You will service, test, and verify system performance while documenting results to code requirements.

The role involves operating the company vehicle, coordinating with management, and occasionally traveling for out-of-town assignments. Flexibility for evenings or weekend shifts is required to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience with installation, maintenance and inspecting commercial and industrial fire suppression systems.
• Willingness to occasional evenings, weekends and/or out-of-town assignments.
• Ability to review official documents for completeness and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Upgrade kitchen suppression systems in commercial buildings.
• Test, repair and inspect systems already in place.
• Perform inspections to ensure suppression systems are installed according to code.
• Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues.
• Report results of work completed in an accurate and timely manner.
• Inspect and maintain the truck and related equipment, and request repairs as needed.
• Operate warehouse equipment, including vehicles, to facilitate loading/unloading while following safety rules.
• Respond to emergency service calls.

This position is responsible for both inspections and maintenance of kitchen suppression systems. Responsibilities include servicing, inspecting, testing, and performing system checks in accordance with fire code, identifying code and system deficiencies, and preparing accurate and timely inspection reports.

Company vehicle is provided. Shifts: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm Monday through Friday.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Upgrade kitchen suppression systems in commercial buildings
• Test, repair and inspect systems already in place
• Perform inspections to ensure suppression systems are installed according to code
• Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues
• Report results of work completed in an accurate and timely manner
• Inspect and maintain the truck and all related equipment, putting in repair requests as necessary to maintain safe operation.
• Operate warehouse equipment, including vehicles, in a way that facilitates the loading and unloading of the truck while observing all safety regulations and manufacturer’s safety instructions for that equipment.
• Respond to emergency service calls
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience with installation, maintenance and inspecting commercial and industrial fire suppression systems
• Troubleshooting skills.
• Must be flexible with scheduling requirements that occasionally will require evening, weekend and/or out-of-town assignments.
• Requires the ability to display knowledge of basic practices of reviewing official documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Requires the ability to recognize and report deviations through inspection programs.Requires the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.

Physical Requirements

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects. The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions: balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.

Compensation

Ranges: $26-$30 per hour dependent on industry experience. Sign-On Bonus offered: $1000K.
