Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a Kitchen Assistant / Relief Chef for a 3-month contract to support a local authority’s catering service. The role focuses on meal preparation, service, and upholding food hygiene in a busy kitchen, including covering during the Chef Manager’s absence.

You will contribute to safe food handling, stock rotation, and assist in menu planning to meet the needs of adults requiring care services.

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial kitchen or care setting is desirable.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety procedures.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy kitchen environment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Reliable and flexible approach to work.
• Previous experience as a Chef or Assistant Chef.
• Experience in care homes, adult services or residential settings.

Job Purpose

As a Kitchen Assistant / Relief Chef , you will support the catering service within an Adults Establishment, ensuring the preparation and delivery of meals, maintaining food hygiene standards and assisting in the smooth operation of the kitchen during the absence of the Chef Manager.
