Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota is seeking a Kinship Supervisor to lead a mission-centered team that strengthens families by ensuring kinship cases receive exceptional support.

You will guide staff, maintain service quality, and uphold standards across Kinship Locator and Navigator programs. Social work licensure is preferred, and LSS offers guidance toward licensure and a range of benefits. The role requires travel to meet families and coordinate services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field; 1–2 years of related experience required.
• Supervision/management experience preferred.
• Licensure as a Social Worker or Social Work Associate preferred.
• 21+ years old; background checks required; valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to Kinship Locator and Kinship Navigator team members daily.
• Assist in hiring, training, supervising staff and evaluating performance.
• Coordinate caseloads to ensure consistent high-quality support.
• Maintain outreach to relatives and build rapport for potential placements.
• Travel to meet families and coordinate community services.
