Job summary

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish, is recruiting for a Fishery Biologist 4 (Southcentral KORE Program Coordinator) in Anchorage, Alaska. This role focuses on leading the KORE program across Southcentral Alaska and coordinating restoration and enhancement of king and coho salmon stocks.

The position requires Alaska residency and offers engagement with diverse teams, public stakeholders, and partner organizations, with frequent field work and travel within the state.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, or a related field such as limnology, biometrics, oceanography, forestry, fisheries science, or natural resource management.
• One year of advanced professional experience as a biologist or fish culturist (or equivalent).
• Residency as Alaska Resident is required per open-to clause.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and lead the regional KORE program to enhance and rehabilitate King and coho salmon stocks in Southcentral Alaska.
• Serve as the technical lead on sportfish salmon enhancement, conduct research, write project operational plans and report findings.
• Develop and lead an ADF&G steering committee to strategize and guide enhancement efforts; supervise project staff.
• Network with ADF&G staff and outside organizations to implement KORE initiatives and projects.
• Write grant applications and seek funding for KORE program priorities and projects.
