Job summary

King’s Harbor Church in Torrance, CA is seeking a part-time Student Ministries Assistant to work with the Student Minister and support youth programs, Sunday services, camps, and events.

The role includes helping teach middle and high school students, building relationships with families, and aiding in planning games, worship activities, and social media outreach. A background in Scripture and Gospel sharing is desired.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of personal/project management principles, administration practices, organization techniques, and methodologies.
  • Relational skills and ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to use computers and a variety of software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Fully participate in Wednesday night youth group, Sunday church activities, staff meetings and one-on-one check-ins with the Student Minister.
  • Attend Sunday worship.

  • Assist with the social media presence of the youth group and engage with teens there in a positive way.
  • Balance the demands of ministry with personal spiritual development and other responsibilities.

Job description

Role:

The Student Ministries Assistant is a part-time position where He/She will work closely with the Student Minister to assist with all regular programming, including but not limited to, preaching, middle and high school youth group gatherings, Sunday morning services, camps, and special events.

Job Description:

  1. Fully participate in Wednesday night youth group, Sunday church activities, staff meetings and one-on-one check-ins with the Student Minister.
  2. Attend Sunday worship.
  3. Assist in teaching both Middle School and High School.
  4. Build rapport and relationships with students and parents in the youth ministry.
  5. Assist in the planning, organization, and implementation of both middle school and high school games/activities. Activities may include worship, devotionals, service projects, and special events.
  6. Serve as a small group leader on Wednesday nights.
  7. Serve as a counselor at student camps.
  8. Attend additional events such as on-campus ministries, sports, games, recitals, etc.
  9. Assist with the social media presence of the youth group and engage with the teens there in an uplifting way.
  10. Learn about balancing the demands of ministry with personal spiritual development, friendships, and the other responsibilities of life.
  11. Ask questions, be creative, offer and implement your ideas, seek servant leadership opportunities, take risks, learn, and see God work through you to make an impact on others.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Be at least 18 years old
  2. Be enrolled or have graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program from an accredited college or university.
  3. Provide your own transportation to/from the church and/or planned activities.
  4. Attend King’s Harbor Church while employed
  5. Complete a background check and child safety training.
  6. Adhere to KHC policies for the safety of the congregation and students.
  7. Have knowledge of Scripture and clearly articulate the Gospel message.

Preferred Skills:
