Job summary

Momentum Academy in St. Louis is seeking a Kindergarten Teaching Assistant to support scholars' academic growth and character development within a nurturing classroom.

Qualifications

  • 60 college credit hours required.
  • Passing score of the ParaPro Assessment or Paraprofessional Assessment.
  • Substitute Teaching Certificate required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the kindergarten teacher in providing a quality, innovative and fun learning environment for all children.
  • Supervise the class in the absence of the teacher.
  • Enhance children’s development in language, motor, and creative areas.
  • Aid in developing children’s social skills through positive guidance.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom.
  • Attend to the needs of individual children.
  • Keep up to date with departmental policies
  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons.
  • Prepare tasks and materials.

Role Overview

Under the direction of the Lead Teacher and Principal, the Kindergarten Teaching Assistant will support the academic success and character development of all kindergarten scholars within the assigned classroom. The Teacher Assistant will create a nurturing and stimulating environment for the children to learn, grow and develop.


Essential Responsibilities


  • Assist the kindergarten teacher in providing a quality, innovative and fun learning environment for all children

  • Supervise the class in the absence of the teacher.

  • Enhance children’s development in language, motor, and creative areas.

  • Aid in developing children’s social skills through positive guidance.

  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom.

  • Attend to the needs of individual children.

  • Keep up to date with departmental policies

  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons.

  • Prepare tasks and materials.

  • Provide administrative assistance as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Educational Requirements


  • 60 college credit hours

  • Passing score of the ParaPro Assessment or Paraprofessional Assessment

  • Substitute Teaching Certificate


Qualifications


  • 1-3 years of experience working as a Teaching Assistant preferred (experience working with students and families in urban communities is a plus)

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Proven track record of student achievement results

  • Strong organization, planning, and time management skills.

  • A tireless work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and innovative solution finder.

  • Open to feedback and committed to continuously improving.


Schedule & Work Environment

The core hours of all team members are 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM CST Monday, Wednesday, Thursday.


On Tuesdays and Friday, instructional team members work until 4pm for staff learning.
