Los Alamos Public Schools Barranca Mesa Elementary in Los Alamos, New Mexico, seeks a Kindergarten Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a 1.0 FTE, 8-hour shift position running from August 3, 2026 to May 28, 2027.

The teacher will guide 4- to 6-year-olds in early literacy, math, social studies, art and music, promoting development and well-being through engaging activities, assessments, and collaboration with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts degree.
• Teacher License from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general information and communicate findings.

Responsibilities

• Supervises activities such as field visits, group discussions, and dramatic play to broaden understanding.
• Fosters cooperative social behavior through games and group projects.
• Instructs students in personal hygiene and self-care, and promotes self-expression through art and music.
• Discusses students' problems and progress with parents.
• Other duties may be assigned.
