Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking a Long-Term Substitute teacher to cover a classroom while the regular teacher is absent, following district curriculum and standards. You will evaluate student progress and maintain class leadership in a supportive environment.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a valid Colorado teaching license. Applicants must reside in Colorado and meet physical demands. This temporary position runs from November 11, 2026 to February 3, 2027.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
• Valid Colorado teaching license (CDE) or application receipt for 90 days.
• Live in Colorado while employed.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

• Counsels students to encourage and support achievement.
• Supervises and coordinates student behavior per district policy.
• Observes and records student performance and development.
• Prepares lesson objectives and materials per curriculum guidelines.
• Delivers instruction using varied teaching methods and technology.
• Grading tests and assigning grades using district software.
• Communicates with parents and staff to address student needs.
