Job summary

Dunlap School District #323 is seeking a Support Staff/Special Education Assistant at Hickory Grove Elementary School. The role runs Monday through Friday, 5.75 hours daily, at an hourly rate of $17.80. Reports to the Building Administrator and supports teachers and students to implement instructional programs.

The position requires a state-approved Illinois license (PARA, PEL, SUB, or ELS-PEDU). Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills

Qualifications

• State approved education license issued through the Illinois State Board of Education required (PARA, PEL, SUB, ELS-PEDU).

Responsibilities

• Support classroom teacher and students to reinforce learning and instructional objectives.
• Monitor student work, supervise testing and make‑up work, and perform classroom clerical tasks.
• Plan, prepare, and produce usable instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and communicate effectively with staff.
• Provide personal hygiene assistance as needed per student IEP, if applicable.
• Assist with medical procedures and adapt to various classroom routines as assigned.
