Qualifications

• Ability to assist in instruction and maintain positive classroom behavior.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers in performing duties and specialized tasks.
• Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt curriculum to students' needs.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior.
• Prepare instructional materials and read to students.
• Create a learning environment conducive to students' development.
• Plan daily and long-range lessons and activities with teachers.
• Conduct learning exercises with small groups.
• Alert teachers to special needs of individual students.
• Provide escort and assistance to children as necessary.
• Check student work for adherence to instructions.
• Maintain individual records for each student.
• Prepare and display educational materials and displays.
• Protect students, equipment, and facilities; observe safety rules.
• Support policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
