Job summary

Warwick Public Schools Sherman Elementary in Warwick, Rhode Island seeks a Kindergarten Teacher Assistant to support the classroom teacher and supervise students during the school day.

The position runs 8:00am–3:30pm, 35 hours weekly for 36 weeks per year, with pay scales from $20.49 to $27.08 per hour depending on credentials and TA training. A minimum of 60 credits or an associate degree in education or TA-related fields is required.

Qualifications

• Two years college coursework (60 credits) in early childhood, elementary or special education is required or an associate degree in a TA program.
• Completion of a RIDE approved TA Training Course is suggested.
• One year related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, distribute and display materials as directed by the teacher.
• Meet the bus and assist children into the classroom.
• Maintain order during instruction period as directed by the teacher.
• Escort children to and from rooms and assist in activities as necessary.
• Maintain records as required by the teacher.
• Assist with games, walks and exercises.
