Job summary

Kiewit Mining Group seeks a Senior Mining Engineer to support mining operations across North America. You will oversee short- and long-range plans, develop budgets and design work, and mentor Field Engineers on our mining and construction teams.

In this role you will manage special projects, coordinate with other departments, and contribute to safety and ethics across projects. Travel and relocation are required to meet project needs.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Mining, Civil, Geological, or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or other natural science engineering fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in mining or related fields.
  • Ability to travel and relocate as needed.
  • Mining, Mining Infrastructure/Heavy Civil project experience is preferred.
  • Ability to access all points of a project site in varied climates and environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support short- and long-range mine planning operations for active mines and infrastructure projects.
  • Cost tracking and developing annual budgets and life-of-mine budgets.
  • Lead or support special projects.
  • Design, develop work plans and costs for mining activities.
  • Manage and oversee these projects, including supervising employees.
  • Train and support Field Engineers new to the company and projects.
  • Perform estimates for new contract opportunities.

Position Overview

As a Senior Mining Engineer, you will support Kiewit Mining operations throughout North America. This position is responsible for overseeing the development of short-range plans, work packages, long range planning and estimating, developing annual budgets, design work, training and mentoring Field Engineers and overall support of our mining and construction teams. Additionally, this role will be responsible for managing special projects and working with other departments across the project site, as required.

This position will be based out of Soda Springs, ID.

Responsibilities
  • Support and implement short range and long range mine planning operations to support active mines, mine infrastructure projects and other heavy civil related projects
  • Cost tracking and developing annual and life of mine budgets

  • Ability to manage and oversee these projects, including supporting or directly supervising employees performing this work
  • Train and support Field Engineers new to the company and projects we support

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Mining, Civil, Geological, or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or other natural science engineering fields.
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Ability to travel and relocate as needed
  • Mining, Mining Infrastructure/Heavy Civil project experience is preferred
  • Ability to freely access all points of a project site in a wide-ranging climates and environments, including the ability to climb off and on equipment
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
