Job summary

Mi Escuela Montessori is seeking a dedicated Physical Education Assistant to support our PE program and after-school activities in Lakeland, FL. The role focuses on fostering healthy lifestyles, safety, and an engaging learning environment for students throughout the day and after school.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree preferred.
• Experience with children in school, recreation, coaching, or childcare settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and actively participate in physical activities.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning and conducting daily PE classes.
• Set up, organize, and store sports equipment.
• Supervise students during physical activities and outdoor play.
• Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles.
• Monitor student safety and enforce school policies and procedures.
• Support students of varying abilities and encourage participation.
• Assist with field days, athletic events, and other school activities.
• Maintain PE equipment and ensure facilities are clean and organized.
• Supervise after-care program and lead age-appropriate games.
• Provide homework support and enrichment opportunities.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and welcoming environment.
• Monitor student behavior and communicate concerns to administration and parents.
• Assist with sign-in/sign-out procedures and snack distribution.
