Job summary

Mount Hermon Association is seeking a KC Head Cook to direct kitchen operations at the Kidder Creek camp, including preparing, serving and storing food in a safe and efficient manner.

The ministerial position requires leadership of assistants and volunteers, adherence to food safety procedures, record-keeping of temperatures and inventories, and flexibility with hours and location as needs shift.

Qualifications

• Some college or more, dependent upon skills.
• Food Handler’s card or ServSafe certification.
• Food service industry experience preferred.
• Ability to prepare meals in accordance with industry standards.
• Ability to instruct and train others.
• Knowledge and ability to use and maintain industrial kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

• Complete menu as provided and instructed by the Food Service Administrator.
• Pull, prepare, serve and store food in accordance with food handling procedures to ensure safe, nutritious meals for camps’ enjoyment and to prevent food spoilage and/or foodborne illness.
• Maintain accurate records of refrigerators’ and freezers’ temperatures to ensure compliance with food service specifications.
• Conduct inventory as needed by the Food Service Administrator.
• Clean ovens, grills and ventilation hood as required by Food Service Administrator to maintain sanitary standards.
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Details: Job Location: Etna, CA 96027, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $18.50 - $19.50 Hourly, Travel Percentage: Kidder Creek Location, Job Shift: Kidder Creek, Position Objective:

The KC Head Cook position is responsible for directing kitchen operations at the assigned camp, including preparing, serving and storing food as directed by the Food Service Administrator in a safe and efficient manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

General Qualifications:

The Kidder Creek (“KC”) Cook is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision and beliefs. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs, and retreats.

Key Job Accountabilities:

• Complete menu as provided and instructed by the Food Service Administrator.

Qualifications: Education/Certifications/Licenses:

• Some college or more, dependent upon skills.
• Food Handler’s card or ServSafe certification.

Work Experience:

• Food Service industry experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to prepare meals in accordance with industry standards.
• Ability to instruct and train others.
• Knowledge and ability to use and maintain industrial kitchen equipment.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift 35-50 lbs.
• This job may require lifting and carrying cases of canned goods, sacks of dry product, etc.
• Requires the ability to see, hear and talk.

Additional Requirements/Skills:

• Days off will be flexed to meet the demand of the kitchen. Extended hours sometimes required.
• Flexibility in location: during times when the kitchen does not have meals to prepare, this person may be asked to work one of the other kitchens, wilderness or other areas of ministry.

• Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
• Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provideproof of eligibility to work in the United States.
