Job summary

Theuniversityunion in Apex, NC is seeking a Kid Zone Care Attendant to supervise children and support a safe, engaging childcare experience aligned with YMCA values.

Shifts are 8:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m., Monday–Friday, with 2–3 shifts per week and occasional substitutes. Must be 16+ with childcare experience preferred and a friendly, professional demeanor.

Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the leadership of the program supervisor, coordinator and/or director, the Kid Zone Care Attendant provides direct supervision to a group of children in a childcare setting. They will help to provide a quality experience to children and parents through our YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

The Kid Zone Care Attendant is responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees and Board of Directors of the YMCA.

Available shifts: Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Looking for someone who can work 2-3 shifts per week.

Sub opportunities are also available. Must work a minimum of 4 shifts a month.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Supervises a group of children while leading and participating in program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
• Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
• Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
• Maintains group control at all times and handles all situations sensitively and with a positive attitude.
• Ensures the safety and cleanliness of program environment.
• Serves as a positive role model and maintains positive relationships with parents, children, and staff.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to dress code, medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
• Other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.
