Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago in Crystal Lake, IL is seeking a Kid Zone Attendant to support a safe, engaging program for children from 6 weeks to 12 years. You will interact with parents, monitor children, and uphold YMCA standards while providing developmentally appropriate activities.

Experience with children is essential; passion for the YMCA mission and ability to connect with diverse families are valued. Bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the daily program with developmentally appropriate activities in collaboration with peers.
  • Supervise and lead activity areas.
  • Assist in planning and preparing activities.
  • Organize and set up needed materials and supplies.
  • Sanitize toys and play equipment.
  • Maintain a safe play environment.
  • Support the YMCA’s mission and center operations as needed.
  • Ensure proper child-to-guardian ratios.

Kid Zone Attendants are responsible for the wellbeing of children ages 6 week to 12 years within their care and maintaining a safe and fun environment. You will actively interact and engage with parents, monitor children throughout their care and supervision, and adhere to the standards and values of the YMCA.

Scope of Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to build rapport with children, parents and families of diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to, and a passion for, the YMCA of Metro Chicago’s mission.
  • Demonstrates evidence of YMCA team competencies in previous experience or practice.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish highly preferred.

Child Abuse Prevention
  • Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor.
  • Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children.
  • Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor.
  • Completing all child abuse prevention training as required.
