Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Firefighter-EMT to protect facilities and people at client sites. The role involves applying firefighting and EMS skills, patrolling posts, and reporting safety issues to maintain security and safety standards.

The Firefighter-EMT will respond to emergencies, manage hazards, and assist with patient care as needed, while upholding Allied Universal’s service excellence and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent
• Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• Health License as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or higher
• Must have current CPR/AED Certification
• Must pass physical and Fit Test required for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
• Must obtain and maintain annual Hazardous Materials Technician Certification (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120)
• Must obtain and maintain annual Confined Space and Rope Rescue Certification (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146)
• Must possess or be able to obtain any additional state requirements for a firefighter EMT
• As a condition of employment, employee must successfully complete a background investigation and a drug screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws
• Display exceptional customer service and communication skills
• Driving Positions: must possess a valid Driver’s License with at least one year of driving experience, a clean driving record (no major violations within last 36 months, no more than 1 accident in last 24 months, no more than one minor moving violation in last 24 months), a minimum level of insurance as required by Company policy, and the ability to safely operate a vehicle required.
• Have intermediate computer skills to operate innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites
• Ability to handle crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently
• Safely respond to emergency incidents, fight fires, mitigate hazardous material incidents, rescue trapped persons in confined spaces, and administer basic life support (BLS) treatment.
• Able to perform firefighting duties including advancing hose lines, fire apparatus pump operations, safely operate power tools, climb ladders, and wear firefighter protective gear including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) weighing approximately 70 pounds.
• Work in various environments such as cold weather, rain/snow or heat
• Occasionally lift or carry up to 80 poundsClimb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift
• Stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of facilities and deter crime at assigned posts
• Act as a visible deterrent and report suspicious or unsafe acts to protect people and property
• Respond to emergencies, fight fires, mitigate hazmat incidents, rescue trapped persons, and perform BLS as needed
• Perform firefighting duties including hose lines, pump operations, and use SCBA and power tools as required

The Firefighter-EMT is responsible for the safety and security of the facilities they protect. The Firefighter-EMT acts as a visible deterrent to crime and client rule infractions, as well as detects and reports suspicious, unsafe or criminal acts at or near their assigned posts, which may be a threat to the property, clients, guests or employees at the site.
