Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory is seeking a Kettle Worker/Bell Ringer to support the Red Kettle Campaign in engaging customers and encouraging donations. You will greet shoppers, ring the bell, and ensure the kettle is attended while following safety and conduct guidelines.

Responsibilities include standing for extended periods in outdoor weather, avoiding handling cash directly, and coordinating with supervisors to replace kettles when needed.

Responsibilities

• Ring a bell to collect donations and greet customers in a courteous, friendly manner.
• Stand where customers can see you and maintain eye contact without blocking doorways.
• Ensure the kettle is never left unattended and stay within arm's reach.
• Do not handle the money; ask customers to place donations directly into the kettle.
• If the kettle is full, contact the Corps Officer or supervisor for a replacement.
• Perform other duties within the scope of the role as assigned by supervisors.

Job description

The Kettle Worker/Bell Ringer will assist The Salvation Army with the Red Kettle Campaign, which helps raise money to help those in need year-round.

Responsibilities

The duties listed below are the primary duties of this position but are not all the duties that may be required. The Salvation Army reserves the right to change, reduce or expand the duties of this position at any time. Specifically, The Primary Duties Are

• Ring a bell for The Salvation Army to collect donations. Smile and greet customers entering and exiting the location in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Stand where the customer can see you to establish eye contact, but do not block the store's doorway or get in a customer's way.
• Ensure the Kettle is never left unattended; always remain within arms-distance of the kettle. Do not move the kettle from the assigned location.
• Under no circumstances should you handle the money going into the kettle; kindly ask customers to place the donation directly into the kettle.
• If the kettle becomes full, call the Corps Officer or identified supervisor to request a replacement kettle.
• Other duties within the scope of the role as assigned by supervisors.
