Job summary

The Salvation Army Northern Division seeks a part-time Red Kettle Campaign Coordinator to manage day-to-day operations, onboard seasonal staff, schedule and track personnel, and support kettle routes across Steele County. This site-based role requires strong organization, reliability, and teamwork in a community setting.

Responsibilities include hiring/onboarding, timekeeping, scheduling, kettle operations, data entry, and route support.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience coordinating employees or volunteers preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet Salvation Army motor vehicle record requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate hiring and onboarding of seasonal bell ringers and kettle drivers; provide orientation and training regarding job responsibilities, procedures, safety, and mission.
• Review and maintain accurate timekeeping records for seasonal employees; follow up on missing information and submit records on time.
• Develop and communicate daily schedules for employees and volunteers; respond to call-offs and coverage needs; adjust assignments to maintain kettle coverage.
• Coordinate the placement, pickup, and movement of kettles and related equipment; visit kettle locations to support staff and volunteers and ensure equipment is functioning.
• Maintain campaign records and enter data related to kettle activity, staffing, collections, and required information; assist with reports and tracking.
• Assist with kettle routes, deliveries, pickups, and staffing coverage as needed to support daily campaign operations.

Job description

The Salvation Army Northern Division (Steele County) provides a variety of services to individuals and families in the community, including short- and long-term case management; food, clothing, utility, rent, and housing assistance; connections to community resources and partners; and spiritual care.

The annual Red Kettle Campaign raises funds to support local Salvation Army programs and services. The Kettle Coordinator is a temporary seasonal position responsible for coordinating day-to-day Red Kettle Campaign operations, including hiring and onboarding seasonal employees, scheduling employees and volunteers, maintaining timekeeping records, coordinating kettle locations and routes, tracking campaign activity, and responding to operational needs throughout the campaign.

$15 per hour, 25 hours a week

This is a seasonal and temporary position up until the end of December 2026.

Essential Functions (approximate time spent)

• Hiring and Onboarding (20%): Coordinate the hiring and onboarding of seasonal bell ringers and kettle drivers; provide orientation and training regarding job responsibilities, campaign procedures, safety expectations, and The Salvation Army’s mission.
• Timekeeping and Payroll Support (20%): Review and maintain accurate timekeeping records for seasonal employees; follow up on missing or inaccurate information and submit records according to established payroll timelines and procedures.
• Scheduling and Daily Coordination (20%): Develop and communicate daily schedules for employees and volunteers; respond to call-offs, scheduling conflicts, and coverage needs; adjust assignments to maintain kettle coverage.
• Kettle Operations and Site Support (20%): Coordinate the placement, pickup, and movement of kettles and related equipment; visit kettle locations to support employees and volunteers, address operational concerns, and ensure equipment is available and functioning properly.
• Data Entry and Campaign Tracking (10%): Maintain campaign records and enter data related to kettle activity, staffing, collections, and other required information; assist with reports and tracking as assigned.
• Route and Operational Support (10%): Assist with kettle routes, deliveries, pickups, and staffing coverage as needed to support daily campaign operations.

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience coordinating employees, volunteers, schedules, or similar operations preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet Salvation Army motor vehicle record requirements.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage changing schedules and priorities.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills with employees, volunteers, donors, businesses, and the public.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn job-related systems.
• Dependable and professional, with good judgment and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Working Conditions

• This is a fully site-based and community-based position working at Salvation Army and Red Kettle Campaign locations.
• Work involves sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Work may include exposure to seasonal weather conditions.
• Work hours will include days, evenings, and Saturdays.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Provides day-to-day supervision, scheduling, training, and work direction to seasonal bell ringers and kettle drivers and provides guidance and support to volunteer bell ringers.

Driving/Travel Requirements

• Regular local driving is required to support Red Kettle Campaign operations, including visiting kettle locations and assisting with routes, deliveries, and pickups.
