Job summary

Google is seeking a Software Engineering Manager for Kernel Development in Sunnyvale, CA. You will lead a team of systems software engineers, drive architecture for memory management, CPU scheduling, and core Linux kernel components, and coordinate cross-team roadmaps.

You will mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and ensure delivery across multiple sites. Strong C, C++, Rust experience and deep knowledge of OS concepts are required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development.
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
Experience in people management (guiding technical teams, resource allocation, and mentoring).
Experience in computer architecture and low-level system software development in C.
Experience with operating systems, including CPU scheduling and memory management.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and grow a team of systems software engineers.
Drive architectural design and execution roadmaps for core Linux kernel subsystems.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align milestones and technical boundaries.
Advocate for engineering excellence, testing methodologies, and performance profiling.
