Job summary

Animal Medical Center I-35 is seeking a kennel technician to provide comprehensive boarding care for dogs and cats, including feeding, exercise, enrichment, and monitoring. You will groom, bathe, trim nails, and communicate observations to the medical team while maintaining a clean, safe environment.

The role emphasizes client-facing service, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced setting with shifting weekend/holiday schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care for boarding dogs and cats, including feeding, watering, administration of medications, exercise, enrichment, and monitoring.
  • Maintain clean, organized kennels and boarding areas.
  • Monitor pets for changes and communicate concerns to the team.
  • Provide individualized attention to each pet for comfort and safety.
  • Follow hospital and boarding protocols to ensure safety and well‑being.
  • Bathe, dry, groom, nail trim, and perform anal gland expressions as requested.
  • Keep hospital areas clean, stocked, and organized; assist the medical team as needed.
  • Interact professionally with clients during drop-off and pick-up; share positive updates.

Key Responsibilities
Boarding & Pet Care
  • Provide excellent daily care for boarding dogs and cats, including feeding, watering, medication administration as directed, exercise, enrichment, and monitoring.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and comfortable kennels and boarding areas throughout the day.
  • Monitor pets for changes in behavior, appetite, attitude, or health and communicate concerns promptly to the appropriate team member.
  • Provide pets with attention, affection, enrichment, and interaction appropriate for their individual needs.
  • Follow all hospital and boarding protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients and boarding pets.
  • Give every pet individualized attention and work to make their stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
Pet Care & Grooming Services
  • Bathe and dry pets as needed for boarding, grooming, medical, or client requests.
  • Perform nail trims safely and appropriately.
  • Perform anal gland expressions when requested.
  • Clean pets' ears and maintain appropriate hygiene.
  • Brush and maintain coats as needed.
  • Communicate any abnormalities, skin issues, ear concerns, injuries, or other observations to the medical team.
  • Handle pets safely and appropriately based on their temperament and individual needs.
Hospital Support & Cleaning
  • Keep kennel areas, supplies, laundry, and workspaces clean, stocked, and organized.
  • Clean and maintain common areas throughout the hospital.
  • Help with hospital laundry, dishes, trash, cleaning, stocking, and other daily housekeeping responsibilities.
  • Assist the medical team with appropriate tasks when needed.
  • Help prepare rooms, restock supplies, clean equipment, and maintain an organized work environment.
  • Recognize what needs to be done throughout the hospital and take initiative rather than waiting to be assigned every task.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, clients, and team members.
Client Experience
  • Interact professionally and warmly with clients during drop-off and pick-up.
  • Help clients feel confident that their pets were well cared for while staying with us.
  • Be able to enthusiastically share positive updates with clients about their pet's stay and let them know how much their pet was loved and cared for.
  • Create a positive experience that makes clients feel comfortable choosing Animal Medical Center I-35 for their pet’s boarding needs.

  • Has flexible availability and is willing to work some weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule.
Schedule & Availability

Open availability is strongly preferred.

Kennel care is needed every day, including weekends and holidays.

Weekend and holiday shifts are typically rotated among kennel team members to ensure the schedule is fair to the entire team.

Both full-time and part-time positions are available.
