Digs Dog Care is seeking Kennel Techs to join the PlayStayTion Pet Resort team. The role emphasizes a calm, attentive presence, love for animals, and adherence to cleanliness and hospitality standards to ensure dogs feel at home.

You may drive for our Pet Taxi service and support boarding operations, with opportunities to assist in grooming after training. Join a team committed to safe, compassionate pet care.

Qualifications

  • Basic dog handling knowledge and ability to read body language.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and cleanly operate within kennel/boarding env.
  • Strong written and verbal communication for team coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety and well-being of daycare and boarding dogs.
  • Monitor health and behavior; report concerns to supervisor.
  • Provide hospitality-focused experience to dogs and owners.
  • Drive in PlayStayTion Van to pick up pets and return them to the resort.
  • Maintain clean play areas and proper sanitation of bedding, dishes, and toys.
  • Follow feeding, medication, and allergy protocols.
  • Assist with lobby interactions and client education.
  • Potentially assist with grooming after training clearance.
  • Contribute to team culture and tasks as needed.
  • Maintain professional attitude with teammates.

Job description

Kennel Techs are the quiet backbone of the Digs overnight experience — ensuring every boarding dog feels safe, comfortable, and cared for from check-in to check-out. This role requires a calm, attentive presence, a genuine love for animals, and a commitment to the cleanliness and hospitality standards that set Digs apart. Kennel Techs work closely with Pack Leaders and supervisors to make sure every pup's stay feels less like a kennel and more like a home away from home. We are also seeking someone who is comfortable driving for our Pet Taxi service. This services is offered to pet parents who cannot drop off their pup at our location and we offer to pick, up their pet and bring them to their home away from home.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all daycare and boarding dogs using proper handling techniques
  • Monitor and proactively address dog health and behavior; report any concerns to your supervisor immediately — zero tolerance for non-approved handling methods
  • Deliver a hospitality-first experience by engaging warmly with every dog and making each visit feel welcoming and stress-free
  • Drive to pick up pets from their home in the PlayStaytion Van and deliver pets safely back to the resort where they'll stay overnight with us for the overnight boarding experience
  • Keep play areas clean, including clean-up of bodily functions and proper use of cleaning chemicals
  • Follow all feeding, medication, and allergy protocols for every animal in care
  • Sanitize bedding, dishes, toys, and accessories; restock supplies as needed
  • Assist with lobby customer relations, ensuring pet parents feel informed and at ease
  • May assist with grooming tasks (bathing, brushing, drying) upon completing required training sign-off
  • Pitch in on additional tasks that contribute to the overall culture, pet wellbeing, and hospitality experience at Digs
  • Work respectfully with teammates and maintain a positive, professional attitude at all times
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of basic dog behaviors and body language
  • Familiarity with kennel operations and animal care
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to handle animals safely and confidently, including large/giant breed dogs
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow directions closely (written and verbal)
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to remain calm and level-headed with a pleasant demeanor
  • Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs., bend, and stand or walk for long periods
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors with dogs of all sizes and temperaments
  • Available for flexible scheduling, including holidays and weekends
