The City of Albuquerque is seeking a Kennel Supervisor to oversee humane operation and maintenance of the city’s kennels and to improve the placement of adoptable animals. The role involves supervising staff, coordinating schedules, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include evaluating animals for adoption, administering medications, and coordinating with volunteers and rescue groups.
Supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for humanely operating and maintaining the City's kennels; work toward the goal of increased placement of adoptable animals; ensure quality of work and adherence to established policies and procedures; perform or assist in the performance of euthanasia procedures; perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in science, biology or a related field; and Four (4) years experience in the operation of a kennel; and To include one (1) year direct supervisory or technical lead experience.
Public Kennel Experience Preferred.
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid euthanasia technician license issued by the State of New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department within six (6) months from date of hire into position.
Work weekends, nights and holidays
Animal shelter environment; exposure to a variety of domestic and wild animals, animal body fluids, wastes and infectious materials; outdoor and or inclement weather conditions; may be exposed to hostile or abusive members of the public; exposure to noise.
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for moderate to heavy lifting; bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling; sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time; operating motorized equipment.
