Job summary

The JOY FM is seeking a compassionate animal care assistant to join our veterinary environment. You will provide daily care for dogs and cats, including feeding, watering, walking, and monitoring their well-being, while maintaining clean kennels and sanitary areas.

You will assist with basic handling, observe animal conditions, and report concerns to staff. Weekend and holiday availability is required to support busy clinic operations and animal welfare.

Qualifications

  • Experience with animals preferred but not required.
  • Dependable, responsible, and able to work well with others.
  • Comfortable handling dogs and cats of different sizes.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced veterinary environment.
  • Able to perform physically demanding duties (standing, lifting, cleaning).
  • Weekend and holiday availability required.

Description

Provide daily care and attention to dogs and cats in our care. Feed, water, walk, and monitor animals. Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and surrounding areas. Change bedding and maintain a clean, sanitary environment. Assist with basic animal handling and restraint as directed by the veterinary team. Observe animals for changes in behavior or condition and report concerns to appropriate staff. Help with laundry, cleaning, stocking, and other general clinic duties. Treat all animals with patience, kindness, and compassion. Follow clinic safety and sanitation procedures.

Qualifications

Previous experience working with animals is preferred but not required. Must be dependable, responsible, and able to work well with others. Comfortable handling dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments. Able to work in a fast-paced veterinary environment. Must be able to perform physically demanding duties, including standing, walking, bending, cleaning, and lifting. A positive attitude and genuine concern for animal welfare are essential. Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
