Archdale Animal Hospital in Archdale, NC is seeking a reliable Kennel Assistant to support our veterinary and boarding team. This hands-on role directly impacts the well-being of every pet in our care.

The ideal candidate has a passion for animals, strong cleanliness and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Training and growth into clinical roles are encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Experience with animals in kennels, boarding, daycare or veterinary settings preferred.
  • Must be reliable, organized and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and staying active during shifts.
  • Strong attention to cleanliness and safety in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care for boarding and hospitalized pets, including feeding, watering, and monitoring.
  • Maintain clean, sanitized kennels, cages, and treatment areas.
  • Safely handle and restrain pets with low-stress, compassionate care.
  • Walk, bathe, and provide enrichment to support pets’ well‑being.
  • Observe and report changes in behavior, appetite, or health status to the veterinary team.
  • Assist with patient preparation, cleaning protocols, and general upkeep.
  • Manage laundry, dishes, and facility cleanliness to ensure a safe environment.
  • Help create a welcoming, calm atmosphere for pets and their owners.

Compensation: $12.00 - $13.00 / hour

Archdale Animal Hospital is seeking a reliable, hardworking Kennel Assistant to support our veterinary and boarding team. This is a critical, hands‑on role where your attention to detail and compassion directly impact the well‑being of every pet in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide daily care for boarding and hospitalized pets, including feeding, watering, and monitoring

  • Support the hospital team with patient preparation, cleaning protocols, and general upkeep
  • Manage laundry, dishes, and facility cleanliness to ensure a safe and healthy environment
  • Assist in creating a welcoming, calm atmosphere for both pets and their owners
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Previous animal care experience strongly preferred (kennel, boarding, daycare, or veterinary setting)
  • Strong commitment to cleanliness, organization, and efficiency
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and staying active throughout the shift
  • Ability to recognize signs of stress, illness, or discomfort in animals
  • Positive attitude with a team‑first mindset
  • Willingness to learn and grow within a fast‑paced veterinary environment
