Job summary

McMenamins Kennedy School is seeking a Catering Server to provide exceptional guest service at private and public events. You will set up, serve, pour beverages, and manage event spaces while ensuring safety and enjoyment for all guests.

Opportunities to work at a variety of locations and events are available, with a focus on friendly, efficient service in a fast-paced environment. Must be 21+ and possess required service certifications.

Qualifications

• Obtain and maintain a current OLCC and food handlers card.
• Previous related experience in catering or hospitality preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-service oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, run, and break down events from small meetings to large groups.
• Arrange tables, chairs, bars and AV equipment as needed.
• Serve food and pour beer, wine, and spirits.
• Check IDs for alcohol sales and handle coffee and water service.
• Provide attentive service and maintain guest relations throughout events.
• Work independently or as part of a team in a deadline-driven setting.

Description of the Position:

Catering servers are responsible for providing an enjoyable experience for all of our guests and customers during privately catered and public events. Duties include but are not limited to; setting up, running, and breakdown of events from small business meetings with minimal food to large groups with full meals; setting up tables, chairs, bars, and AV equipment; serving food from fine dining to buffet style; pouring and serving beer, wine, and spirits; waiting on and bussing tables; checking IDs of patrons purchasing alcoholic beverages; coffee and water service; resetting event spaces; restocking supplies; washing dishes; general cleaning and, most importantly, attending to customer needs and maintaining customer relations. Since this position includes lots of direct contact with customers, caterers will also need to be available to answer questions and assist customers & guests in whatever way necessary. Being a catering server can be hard physical work and requires mental agility and the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast paced and deadline-oriented environment. Catering servers must also have the ability to work well independently and as a member of a team.
