Job summary

Walmart Transportation is seeking a Preventative Maintenance Technician in Shelby, NC to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on Walmart equipment including trailers, tractors, yard trucks, and shop/service vehicles, following company and DOT guidelines. You will create and process work orders, document logs, and ensure safety and quality in every task.

Qualifications

• Experience performing preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on trailers/tractors or similar heavy equipment.
• Working knowledge of brake systems (air/ABS/disc) and tire service.
• Ability to follow DOT guidelines and shop safety procedures.
• Skill in diagnosing needs, selecting parts, and documenting work in logs.
• Comfort communicating status and repair details verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic to intermediate inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, and replacements on Walmart equipment (trailers, tractors, yard trucks, shop equipment, service vehicles).
• Create and process work orders; assess needs, identify parts, and select repair solutions.
• Repair/replace brake components and related parts per DOT requirements.
• Communicate updates and complete required logs and documentation.
• Receive fuel drops, monitor safety compliance, and prepare fuel paperwork.
