Job summary

Millennium is seeking a Senior KDB/Q Engineer to lead the KDB development team in New York City. You will own architecture for real-time and historical time-series databases, drive ingestion, storage, and end-of-day workflows, and mentor engineers across disciplines.

You will design scalable q solutions, optimize memory and performance, and partner with trading, research, data, and infra teams to deliver durable, high-performance platforms. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Lead and scale KDB+/q environments in production.
• Experience with time-series databases and high-volume data pipelines.
• Strong collaboration with trading, research and infra teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of KDB/q engineers, establishing priorities and standards.
• Own the architecture and roadmap for kdb+ platforms, including ingestion and end-of-day workflows.
• Design scalable q solutions for high-volume data with focus on performance and reliability.
• Drive memory management, partitioning, and indexing optimizations.
• Build analyst-facing tooling, including Jupyter notebooks and q/Python integrations.
• Establish code quality, CI/CD, release management, and monitoring practices.
• Embed data-quality controls and retention policies in platform design.
• Partner with multiple teams to deliver durable solutions and lead reviews.
