Job summary

This position is with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Police Service, Milwaukee Canine Program.

The coordinator will manage the canine program at field level, supervise training, certifications, and support for multiple stations, ensuring readiness and compliance in security operations. Candidates should have law enforcement experience with arrest authority, canine handling expertise, and possess a valid state driver's license.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience in training, handling, and employing dogs for patrol or detection.
• Experience as a law enforcement officer with arrest authority.
• Requires a valid State Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the Canine Program at the facility level for a dispersed area.
• Direct canine searches of buildings, vehicles, packages, and persons.
• Train the canine and manage budget/contracts related to care and certification.
• Perform law enforcement duties under Title 38 U.S.C.
• Conduct patrols with the canine to deter crime and detect contraband.
• Ensure proper care, feeding, and housing of the canine and maintain equipment and vehicles.
