Requirements

• Fluency of American Sign Language and strong knowledge of Deaf Culture or willingness to learn within the first year of hire
• Willingness and commitment to participate in school offered ASL classes
• Understands, supports and can articulate the school’s mission and vision to students, faculty, families, staff, and the public outside the school
• Plan and deliver engaging Physical Education and Health lessons for students in grades K–8.
• Teach age‑appropriate motor skills, movement concepts, fitness skills, team sports, individual activities, and personal health topics.
• Implement curriculum aligned with state aligned Physical Education and Health standards.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs, abilities, and learning styles of all students.
• Integrate health education topics such as nutrition, personal hygiene, mental health, safety, and wellness.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and respectful learning environment in gyms, outdoor spaces, and classrooms.
• Establish and enforce clear rules and routines that promote positive behavior and sportsmanship.
• Ensure proper use, storage, and care of equipment and facilities.
• Follow all safety procedures and respond appropriately to injuries or emergencies.
• Assess student progress and growth using a variety of formative and summative methods.
• Provide feedback to students that supports skill development and healthy habits.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and assessment data.
• Communicate student progress clearly to families through reports, conferences, and other school‑approved channels.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and administrators to support student learning.
