Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physical education or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years' relevant teaching experience, preferably in an independent K-8 school.
• Minimum 2 years' coaching experience at the middle school level with ability to coach three seasons.
• Strong initiative and organizational skills; excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Teaches skills in physical fitness, rhythm and dance, and individual and team sports
• Develops creative lesson plans and assesses student development
• Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each student
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior for an orderly, productive environment
• Provides safety instruction and conducts safety checks on equipment and areas
• Evaluates each student's growth in physical skills, knowledge and team contribution
• Communicates with parents and administration on student progress
• Attends staff development programs and curriculum meetings
• Performs other related duties as assigned
