Job summary

Copper Island Academy in Michigan is seeking a part-time Paraprofessional and Lunch Assistant to join our public school team. You will support students, assist classroom teachers, and help manage lunchroom operations, contributing to a positive, inclusive school culture.

The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma (associate degree preferred) and has experience with children in educational settings. Strong communication, patience, and respect for confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• We require a high school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher is preferred.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting is desirable, especially with K-8.
• Familiarity with Finnish education practices and willingness to support their implementation.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with students, teachers, and staff.
• Demonstrated confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Student Support: Provide individualized assistance to students to help them achieve academic and behavioral goals.
• Lunchroom Assistance: Provide support with meal serving, cleanup, and/or point-of-sale as needed.
• Classroom Assistance: Assist classroom teachers in implementing instructional activities and managing classroom routines.
• Behavioral Support: Implement behavior management strategies to support students and develop individualized plans.
• Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Assist with assessments and data collection on student progress.
• School Community Engagement: Contribute to a culture of joy and participate in school events and activities.
• Professional Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers and staff to support school goals and participate in professional development.
