Urban Ventures is seeking a Literacy Instructor+ to deliver steady, systematic, multi-sensory literacy instruction to students in grades PreK-6. The role focuses on English-language support and fostering healthy peer relationships, within Reading Plus programs and after-school settings.

The position is benefits-eligible at 30 hours per week, with training in Orton-Gillingham provided and funded for a 2-year commitment. BA in Education and urban education experience are valued.

Formación

• Experience with PreK-6th children in urban settings.
• BA/BS in Education preferred.
• Willingness to be trained and certified in Orton-Gillingham.
• Experience in multi-ethnic urban communities is valued.

Responsabilidades

• Plan individualized lessons targeting literacy needs (phonemic awareness, letter sounds, syllabication).
• Teach steady, multi-sensory Orton-Gillingham lessons based on student needs.
• Maintain accurate timekeeping of start/end times.
• Record weekly attendance and flex tasks by end of day Fridays.
• Assess student progress at least 3 times a year and share Literacy Intervention Progress Reports.
• Build positive relationships with students, partner school staff and families, including updates on progress and participation in events.
• Meet with Reading Plus Director to reflect, collaborate and troubleshoot; schedule determined by program needs.
• Attend on-site and off-site literacy trainings.
• Help plan and execute Reading Plus events with school partners and Urban Ventures programs.
• Adhere to agency policies, procedures and a professional code of ethics.
