Job summary

Martin Luther King, Jr. Charter School of Excellence (MLKCSE) seeks a Special Educator to lead coordination of special education services in line with each student’s IEPs.

The role involves delivering specialized instruction and partnering with classroom teachers to ensure accommodations are implemented. The ideal candidate holds a MA teaching certificate in Special Education, an SEI or RETELL endorsement, and experience in urban settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• MA teaching certification in Special Education/Moderate Disabilities required.
• SEI or RETELL endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide research-based specialized instruction aligned to IEP goals.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement accommodations.
• Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with goals and services required.
• Plan and implement targeted lessons according to IEP goals.
• Conduct baseline testing to determine educational needs and address gaps.
• Communicate progress with the Special Education Director, related service providers, and other staff.
• Engage parents/guardians to promote involvement and collaboration.
• Participate in professional development and after-school events.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Special Education Director.
