Job summary

Southern Avenue Charter Elementary School is seeking a Teacher’s Assistant to support the classroom teacher by preparing instructional materials, supervising students, and helping create a well-organized learning environment. You will assist with activities, monitor behavior, and reinforce lessons under direct supervision.

The role favors candidates with a high school diploma and prior experience with children, strong communication, and teamwork. Familiarity with educational technology is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s in Education preferred.
• Experience working with children or in classroom settings is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in maintaining a well-organized classroom environment.
• Assist students with activities, working with small groups or individuals as needed.
• Prepare instructional materials and set up classrooms for activities.
• Record attendance, assist with tests, and help with routine clerical tasks.
• Supervise students during transitions, field trips, and lunch periods.
