Job summary

Independence Preparatory Academy in Fairfield, AL seeks an Elementary Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year to join a newly launched, high-expectation program. You will deliver standards-aligned instruction, foster student agency, and participate in ongoing coaching within a joyful, structured environment.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree with 1–2 years of teaching experience (Alabama certification preferred) or a GPA of 3.0+ and a growth mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 1–2+ years of teaching experience (Alabama certification preferred).
• Or Bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a growth mindset in a feedback-driven environment.
• Alabama teaching certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive at least 1 year of academic growth for all scholars through standards-aligned, data-driven instruction.
• Use weekly mastery data and exit tickets to adjust instruction in real time.
• Implement Science of Reading-aligned literacy practices with fidelity.
• Build a classroom culture where 100% of scholars are engaged and meet behavioral expectations.

Independence Preparatory Academy is a new, academically challenging, highly structured, and joyful K-8 school in Fairfield, AL. We are on a mission to equip all students with the academic tenacity and strength of character necessary to choose their destiny and create a fulfilling life. We develop empowered learners through agency, purpose, and tenacity.

In August 2025, Independence Preparatory Academy opened its doors to 60 students in kindergarten through second grade. We will continue to grow until we reach a total capacity of 485 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. We are actively building a team that shares our belief that with rigorous academics, high-quality instruction, and character development, all students can excel in high school, college, and life.

We are hiring for the 2026-2027 school year. The salary range for this position is between $48,000 and $61,000. Salary is competitive and aligned to experience and internal equity.
