Job summary

Chester County Intermediate Unit is seeking an Autistic Support Teacher on Assignment to lead a K-2 classroom in the Reading School District. The role focuses on developing IEPs, delivering differentiated instruction, and promoting communication and social-emotional growth for students with ASD.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Special Education and PA K-12 certification, with ASD experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education required.
  • Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in Special Education (K–12) required.
  • Experience with young students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and other evidence-based practices for supporting students with ASD preferred.
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement IEPs for students with ASD, in collaboration with parents and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Design and deliver differentiated instructional lessons to meet individual needs across academics, behavior, and social-emotional growth.
  • Utilize evidence-based strategies to promote communication, social skills development, and independence.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instructional strategies as needed for improvement.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with parents/guardians regarding progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports learning, respect, and emotional well-being.
