Please note: For this particular job assignment, we are actively seeking dedicated, local, open on-site interpreting assignments for k-12 in Lake, Orange, Brevard and Alachua counties in Florida . While we facilitate virtual opportunities (VRI) in other regions, this immediate classroom placement requires an in-person, hands-on presence to best support the student's developmental, cognitive, and social success.

Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, real-time sign language interpretation (receptive and expressive) on-site in K-12 academic settings.

Facilitate immediate, face-to-face communication among Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students, their hearing peers, teachers, and other school personnel.

Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct.

Adapt vocabulary and interpreting style on-the-fly to match the developmental, cognitive, and linguistic levels of the student in the physical classroom.

Actively collaborate with classroom teachers and educational team members to ensure student access, safety, and inclusion.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Interpreter Training, Sign Language Studies, or a related field (preferred).

Credentials:

National Certification (RID/NIC, CDI) OR EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) ( a score of 3.0 or higher is a must for assignments in Lake County Florida)

Clearance: Must have (or be willing to obtain) state-specific school district badging and background clearances (e.g., JLA badging/clearance) for on-site campus access.

Skills: Excellent receptive and expressive sign language skills, a strong grasp of child development concepts, and professional reliability for daily on-site schedules.
