Job summary

Buena Vista City Public Schools is seeking a dedicated JV Head Softball Coach to plan, organize, supervise, and implement the junior varsity softball program. You will work with student-athletes to develop skills, teamwork, and character while preparing them for future development within the district softball program.

The role reports to the Athletic Director and works with the High School Principal and Varsity Softball Coach to maintain consistency and growth across the softball program,

Qualifications

• Plan, organize, and supervise the JV softball program.
• Provide instruction in fundamental skills, team concepts, conditioning, and game strategy.
• Collaborate with the Varsity Softball Coach to ensure consistency across the program.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and travel.
• Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, self-discipline, leadership, and character.
• Monitor student-athlete academic progress, eligibility, attendance, and conduct.
• Establish and communicate team rules, expectations, procedures, and standards.
• Assist with injury prevention, emergency procedures, and required documentation.
• Supervise student managers, statisticians, and other team support personnel as assigned.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and conducts JV softball practices.
• Provides instruction in fundamentals, team concepts, conditioning, and strategy.
• Works with the Varsity Coach for program consistency.
• Supervises student-athletes during practices, games, and travel.
• Promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and character development.
• Monitors academics, eligibility, attendance, and conduct.
• Establishes team rules and procedures.
• Assists with injury prevention and emergency procedures.
• Supervises managers and statisticians.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by coaches or principal.
