Job Description

Morenci Area Schools seeks an outstanding individual to fill our open JV boys basketball coaching position for the 2026/202 school year. Interested candidates must understand their responsibility to be exemplary role models (on and off the job), great teachers (of sport‑specific and general life skills), and great communicators (with players, parents, and the community at large).

PAY RATE Per Bargaining Agreement

SUMMARY To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an understanding of the sport's strategies, an appreciation for the values of discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork, and an increased level of self‑esteem.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Knowledgeable about the rules and fundamental techniques required of the sport
• Ability to obtain current CPR/AED/First Aid certification
• Ability to work effectively with sports coaching staff, parents, and school staff
• Experience working with high school‑aged students preferred
• Previous successful coaching experience

Job Responsibilities

• Comply with MHSAA rules/off‑season policies as well as department/district policies
• Maintain consistent communication with the Athletic Director
• Utilize SportsYou to communicate with parents
• Provide game recaps to social media and to the athletic director
• Plan and execute well‑organized practices
• Develop character, commitment, and confidence in student‑athletes
• Maintain effective pre‑season and in‑season conditioning programs
• Model exemplary behavior toward players, parents, opponents, and officials
• Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director, as applicable

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervise assistant coaches.
• Supervise any volunteers.
• Supervise student‑athletes in that sport.
• Supervise any students or persons associated with that sport.

Job Requirements

• At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
• High School/Trade School degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
