Job summary

Reed City High School is seeking a JV Boys Basketball Assistant to support the head coach in developing student-athletes and promoting a positive sports experience for the upcoming season.

You will assist with practices, game-day preparations, and team events while helping to recruit and retain players. The ideal candidate has basketball experience and strong communication skills, and is willing to pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Experience in basketball at high school level or higher preferred.
• Strong knowledge of basketball rules, strategies and fundamentals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work with students, parents and staff.
• Background check required by school policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practices and training sessions.
• Help develop game strategies and prepare the team for competitions.
• Provide instruction on basketball fundamentals, techniques, and strategies.
• Support the head coach in maintaining a positive team environment that promotes sportsmanship and teamwork.
• Assist with game-day preparations, including setting up equipment and ensuring players are ready for competition.
• Monitor player attendance, performance, and conduct during practices and games.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and coaching staff regarding team policies and expectations.
• Help organize and supervise team events, including fundraisers and community outreach activities.
• Assist with the recruitment and retention of student-athletes for the basketball program.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic director.
