Qualifications

• Prior basketball coaching experience preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with student-athletes.
• Ability to collaborate with coaching staff and contribute positively to the overall program.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and implementation of JV basketball practices.
• Teach and develop fundamental basketball skills and game understanding.
• Assist with game preparation, strategy, and in-game coaching.
• Help establish and maintain a positive team culture, discipline, and expectations.
• Build positive relationships with student-athletes and families.
• Communicate effectively with the head coach and athletic administration.
• Support the overall goals and development of the OLP basketball program.
• Assist with game-day responsibilities and team operations.

The Academy of Our Lady of Peace is currently accepting applications for a JV Basketball Assistant Coach for the upcoming season. This is a seasonal interscholastic coaching position within a competitive CIF girls basketball program.

We are seeking a positive, energetic, and team-oriented coach who will serve as a strong role model and represent OLP with integrity, enthusiasm, and a commitment to developing student-athletes. The ideal candidate will have basketball coaching experience and a passion for teaching fundamentals, developing players, and creating a positive team culture.

This role requires a coach who values competitive success while emphasizing character development, teamwork, accountability, sportsmanship, and personal growth, aligning with the mission and values of OLP.

Length of Work Year:

Seasonal – Winter

Requirements / Qualifications:

• Prior basketball coaching experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, teaching techniques, and player development
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with student-athletes
• Ability to collaborate with coaching staff and contribute positively to the overall program

Applicants must have:

• Current TB test
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
• Livescan background clearance

Required Documents & Pre-Employment Requirements:

Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, and two professional references from current or former supervisors. Candidates must also provide official transcripts, a current negative TB test result or TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire, complete required training, and successfully complete Livescan fingerprinting. Employment is contingent upon obtaining fingerprint clearance from the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
