Job summary

State of Washington, at Green Hill School in Chehalis, WA, seeks a Juvenile Rehabilitation Officer 2 (JRO2) to provide security and safety for residents, staff, and visitors in a maximum-security juvenile facility.

You will assist counselors on the floor, model positive behavior, and help create a safe environment for learning and rehabilitation. Shifts include Day, Swing, Graveyard and on-call weeks, with potential 20–40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• One year of relevant experience in counseling, criminal justice, juvenile justice, education, psychology, sociology, behavioral health, or social service OR one year as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Officer 1.
• Two years of college will substitute for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Proactively maintain awareness of information from previous shifts.
• Operate two-way radio and telephone.
• Recognize and assess problem situations and respond to emergent situations.
• Assess youth behavior for risk to self and others.
• Supervise youth during administration of medications.
• Use approved de-escalation and physical-control methods to restore safety and order.
• Conduct routine security duties including checks, headcounts, and searches.
• Escort/supervise youth during facility movements and appointments.
• Input incident reports and client tracking into the ACT system.
