Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services, is offering a Juvenile Justice Specialist Trainee position at the North Central Secure Treatment Unit. You will train for six months, learn from experienced staff, and develop skills to support youth in need.

Successful completion of the training leads to promotion to a Juvenile Justice Specialist with a salary increase.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• PA residency requirement is waived for this title.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Attend formal classroom sessions and complete learning activities.
• Assist adjudicated youth in hygiene, meals, recreation, work tasks, and structured programs.
• Follow procedures for security, crisis response, and safe facility operations.
• Participate in meetings and contribute to planning and discussions.
• Complete logs, forms, and reports documenting daily observations and progress.
• Act prudently in crisis situations and apply trained techniques to maintain order.
