Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Two years college and one year experience with juveniles, or equivalent with substitution on a year-for-year basis.
• Ability to train and instruct personnel.
• Be physically capable and free of infectious diseases; physician verification required.
• Preference for knowledge of Iowa Juvenile Code and counseling skills.
• Must pass mandatory background checks and medical screenings before offer.

Responsibilities

• Receive and assess juveniles for acceptability and placement.
• Obtain information on alleged offenses and coordinate with relevant agencies.
• Assist in screening and disposition decisions within the facility.
• Prepare admission records and notify parents/guardians and caseworkers.
• Orient juveniles, families, and staff on facility policies and functions.
• Maintain safety and security and supervise daily living activities.
• Coordinate appointments, court dates, transportation, and communications with the juvenile system.
• Record behavioral observations in logs and juvenile files.
