Qualifications

• Knowledge of the Department of Juvenile Justice Detention Services Manual, Federal and State rules and regulations, and DJJ and facility policies and procedures.
• Ability to supervise staff and youth.
• Ability to physically handle and interact with violent youth.
• Ability to work overtime hours in order to ensure staff coverage and maintain security.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for adhering to agency and facility policies and procedures.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for youth, themselves and other staff.
• Perform administrative functions relative to a supervisory position, including orientation and the training of staff; managing leave & attendance; preparing evaluations, special behavior reports, floor logs, and youth folders; maintaining key control; initiating and executing disciplinary actions in accordance with approved policies and procedures; and preparing and reviewing confinement reports.
