Job summary

Guilford County seeks a Paralegal to support County staff attorneys in Juvenile Abuse, Neglect and Dependency Court matters. The role involves organizing case files, drafting documents, and assisting with trial preparation under supervision of the County Attorney.

Qualifications include an Associate degree with at least one year of paralegal experience, and preferred study in Paralegal Technology. Driving may be required as part of duties.

Qualifications

• Associate degree and one year of experience as a Paralegal.
• Preferred: Associate degree in Paralegal Technology.
• Knowledge of legal terminology and research methods.

Responsibilities

• Maintain DSS juvenile case files: organize petitions, custody orders, court orders, motions, notices, reports and correspondence.
• Prepare court documents: draft petitions, motions, notices, orders, subpoenas, discovery materials, responses and witness lists; proofread for accuracy.
• Coordinate with DSS social workers to obtain updated case information for hearings; conduct legal research as needed.
